Sweet Jane permits me a breath.

Anxiety at last bears a name.

Jane.

Jane is afraid of the dark, but not afraid of the night sky.

Jane suffers from the absence of comfort, like a baby stranded from warmth.

Jane is young, like a child. The size of the World is incomprehensible.

Jane has never been soothed by the Light.

Jane shakes me awake each morning, as she gasps for air.

Jane has known that not all people are good. She is not naive.

Jane is brave. Jane is wise. Jane has provided me with protection.

I speak with Jane.

I tell her that there is no need to be afraid.

I invite Jane to be my friend, as she has felt all alone.

Jane holds my hand. It’s the first time she has touched warmth.

I will not leave you behind, Jane.

Walk with me.

Be well.

Wow. This poem is both scary and comforting. I can feel who Jane is, and I can feel the other person offering her their warm hand. Thank you for posting.
